Hitler’s Paintings Sold at High Prices    [09-05-2009] There are many famous artists in the world. Just to name a few, Pablo Picasso, Gustav Klimt, and Leonardo da Vinci are world-famous artists. I’m sure you’ve seen their beautiful paintings. But did you know that Adolf Hitler was once an artist, too? It is hard to believe, but Hitler drew some beautiful paintings when he was young. In 1908, he was an artist in Vienna, Austria. He drew many paintings there. He wanted to enter an art school in Vienna, but failed. So, he joined the army and fought in World War I. Somehow, a British soldier who was stationed in Germany in 1945 got Hitler’s pictures. Last week, he decided to sell the pictures at an auction. Surprisingly, the paintings were sold at high prices! A watercolor of a man sitting at the end of a stone bridge was sold for 10,000 pounds. Another painting fetched 13,500 pounds!
