There are many bridges in the world. A bridge is a structure that is built over a river, road or railway to help people and cars cross from one side to the other. Korea also has a great number of bridges nationwide. Today, you can see bridges everywhere you go. And you can easily find beautiful bridges worldwide. This week and next week, let¡¯s learn about some of the most amazing brides all over the world.

¡Ú Banpo Bridge in Korea
Banpo Bridge is a bridge over the Han River in Seoul. It connects Seocho-gu and Yongsan-gu. Recently, Seoul city changed the bridge into something very new! It became a fountain bridge and it is called ¡°Moonlight Rainbow Fountain.¡± About 380 nozzles run all the way on both sides of the 1.2-kilometer-long bridge. Water is pumped up from the Han River and the nozzles shoot 60 tons of water every minute, creating a fantastic view. At night, the bridge becomes even more beautiful. The jets of water dance to the music while 200 light make rainbow colors. It is the world¡¯s longest fountain bridge. It started operating on April 27 this year.

¡Ú Magdeburg Water Bridge in Germany
Magdeburg Water Bridge is the largest water bridge in Europe. It connects the former East and West Germany over the Elbe River. In fact, the bridge was made as part of the unification project. The 918-meter-long bridge began construction in 1997 and wascompleted in October, 2003.





¡Ú Hangzhou Bay Bridge in China
Hangzhou Bay Bridge is the longest sea-crossing bridge in the world. It is an S-shaped bridge that connects both sides of the Hangzhou Bay in China. The bridge is 36 kilometers long with 6 lanes in two directions. It was opened to the public on May 1, 2008. The bridge was built to ease traffic jams in the area. Thanks to the bridge, it takes only 2 and a half hours between Shanghai and Ningbo by car. It used to take 4 hours.



¡Ú Millau Bridge in France
Millau Bridge is the world¡¯s tallest bridge. People say driving along the bridge makes them feel like flying! So, how tall is the bridge? It is 343 meters tall. In fact, it is slightly taller than the Eiffel Tower and only 38 meters shorter than the Empire State Building in New York. It took 3 years to build the bridge. It was opened to the public in 2004.
