Today, many people all over the world keep hamsters as pets. Hamsters are popular pets. They are small and cute. The most common and largest one is the Syrian Hamster. It is also known as the Golden Hamster. The Syrian Hamster must be kept singular. If you keep them in groups, they will fight and hurt each other.
The hamster is an unsociable animal. Different species have to be kept single as pets. This is because putting one hamster with another hamster would cause fights.
However, the Russian Hamster and the Dwarf Hamster like the company of their own kind.
Hamsters are active at night. So they make noise at night. You may be able to hear them running on their wheels or rustling in the cages! Just remember this: don't bother a sleeping hamster during the day. It may bite you!
Hamsters can eat both vegetables and meat. Hamsters like a variety in their food. It also helps keep them healthy. Their natural foods include grains, seeds, vegetables, and insects. But their favorite foods are seeds.
They will eat some small insects for protein, too. Do not feed your hamster chocolates or sweets. This is very bad for them.
Hamsters are easy to care for. They require a weekly cage cleaning or sometimes twice a week. They are friendly and easily tamed. Golden Hamsters and Black Bear Hamsters are the easiest to tame. Hamsters have a lifespan of about 3-5 years.
