 There
is a saying that goes: “It’s never
too late to learn.” Yes, it’s true. Recently, a very old man
graduated from high school. His name is
Frank Ganz. He lives in California, U.S.A. He is 83 years old! Mr.
Ganz dropped out of high school 67 years ago. That was because his
family was poor. He had to work instead of study in school.
But he always wanted to study. Five years ago, he decided to study
again.
On June 17, he finally got his high school
diploma. It took him almost 5 years to get it. It wasn’t easy for
the old man to study again. This might be because he is one of the oldest students in America.
He has 4 children, 12 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Soon, his great-great-grandchild will be
born! But he never gave up. He was especially good at history and math.
All of his family members gathered on Wednesday for
his graduation ceremony. They
went to his favorite restaurant to celebrate. Congratulations, Mr. Ganz!
But wait! Graduation is not the end. Now he is planning to become
an American history teacher! Wow! He is really amazing! |
