 There
are many famous places to visit in the world from the Eiffel Tower in Paris to
the Statue of Liberty in New
York. In every country, there are many beautiful landmarks to visit. I’m sure
most of you have seen them on TV or in books. But don’t you want to
see them with your own eyes? Surprisingly, there is a
dog that actually did that!
Travelling around the world surely sounds like fun. But
it takes courage because you never know what will happen in strange
places. Surprisingly, there is a dog that is brave enough to explore the world! The special
dog’s name is Oscar.
Over the last 6 months, Oscar and his owner Joanne Lefson travelled
to 29 countries in 5 continents together! They
started their journey last May in South
Africa and visited many famous landmarks. Oscar has been to the Eiffel
Tower in Paris, the Great Wall of China, the
Statue of Liberty in New York, and even the Taj Mahal in India. He finally finished his world
tour last week.
 Joanne said
Oscar was a great companion. She rescued Oscar from an animal shelter in South Africa
5 years ago. Since then, they have been
each other’s best friends. Even though it was a hard
trip, Oscar managed to finish the journey successfully. “Oscar is
just amazing. It’s a miracle that he and I travelled
the world together successfully,” she said with joy.
So, why did they travel the world together? Joanne said she wanted
to let the world know that animals are amazing. “I wanted to tell
people all around the world that even abandoned animals are very
precious. I wanted to come up with a project that
would use Oscar’s excellence to show the entire world that great dogs
like Oscar are available at shelters all
over the world,” said Joanne.
Let’s hope Joanne and Oscar’s effort pays off and many
dogs at animal shelters find new homes! |
