Did
you know that one-third of your life is
spent sleeping? And you spend a total of about 6 years
of your lifetime dreaming! That¡¯s
a long time! But how much do you know about your dreams? Sometimes
dreams can tell us about the future. Sometimes, they can inspire us to do something.
Yes, dreams are very mysterious and amazing. This week, let¡¯s
learn some interesting facts about dreams.
Everyone dreams every night. The average person dreams about
4 to 7 times every night. That means that by the time you reach the age of 80, you
will have had more than 20,000 dreams! Surprisingly, dreaming begins
even before your birth. Many studies show that unborn babies dream, too.
But of course, no one knows what they dream about.
Although you dream every
night, often, you don¡¯t remember your dreams, right?
In fact, you forget 90 percent of your
dreams! Half of your dream is forgotten within 5 minutes of waking.
Within 10 minutes, 90 percent of your dream is forgotten forever.
Babies and little kids dream, too. But children under the age of 3
do not dream about themselves. This means that they do not appear in their own dreams
until after they are 3 or 4 years old.
So, can blind people dream, too?
Yes, they can! Sounds and smells can be causes for dreams for them.
But the images of dreams can differ depending on whether
a person is blind at birth or became blind
later in life. Even many animals dream as well. But no one really
knows what they dream about.
What color
are your dreams? Some people dream in color, while others dream in
black and white. Not everyone
dreams in color. According to doctors, about
12 percent of people dream only in black and white.
People tend to have common themes in dreams -
taking tests, being chased, arriving too late,
running, falling, and flying. We also often dream about people we
know. So, do dreams have meanings? Next week, let¡¯s
learn about some common dream symbols! |
