Strong earthquakes hit Haiti recently, and people in the country are still suffering from great hunger and many illnesses. Thousands of people all over the world are sending money and food to help them. A 7-year-old boy named Charlie Simpson from England also wanted to help the Haitians. Surprisingly, the little boy raised a lot of money in just one day!

When Charlie saw the pictures of Haiti on TV, he felt very sad. He even burst into tears. Then, he asked his mom about what he could do to help the earthquake victims. He finally came up with a great idea. He decided to go on a bike ride to raise money at a nearby park in London. He also created a web page on a donation website, JustGiving (www.justgiving.com/CharlieSimpson-HAITI).

¡°I just think it was quite sad when I saw the pictures on the TV,¡± said Charlie. ¡°I wanted to make some money to buy food, water and tents for everyone in Haiti. So I decided to do a sponsored bike ride for Haiti and went to a park near my house with my dad.¡±

The little boy started raising money at the park and to our surprise, many people supported him and donated a lot of money. As a matter of fact, Charlie ended up collecting a whopping amount of money in just one day. Don¡¯t be surprised. He raised ¡Ì160,000, which is about 240 million won!

Charlie initially hoped to raise ¡Ì500 by biking 5 times round at the park. But thousands of people joined his effort when they saw his website and donated a lot of money! ¡°I am very proud of my little son. He worked very hard and raised a phenomenal amount of money. We can¡¯t still believe this. What started off as a little cycle round the park with his dad has turned into something a lot bigger than that!¡± his mom said.

The money raised by Charlie will be used to buy water and food for thousands of people in Haiti. You are really amazing, Charlie! The Haitians will thank you a lot! You also let the world know that one person can make such a big difference!
