How are The Kids Times readers spending their summer vacation? Wow, time really flies. It¡¯s already middle of August. Within few weeks, school will be starting. Yeah, it¡¯s not something good to think about. But, the truth is, we all have to go back. So, are you ready for it? I bet most of you have now got some bad habits. Let¡¯s find out the kind of habits you need to change before going back to school.

The first thing that is very hard to change is how you spend your time. Since there is no school, I bet most of you slept in for hours. And going to bed late was probably something almost all of you did. Well, it¡¯s going to be hard to wake up early in the morning when school starts. So, start changing your patterns now. It takes about two weeks to change this. Now is the perfect time to start. Try to go to bed early. And try to wake up early. You have to make a personal dedication to do this. Even if there is a good T.V. show on, if it¡¯s time to sleep, go to bed. It¡¯s a promise you made to yourself. Waking up early is also the hard part. Try settig two alarm clocks. It¡¯s better than one. I know, I know. It¡¯s not easy, and you want to sleep for another hour. But, break this habit. It¡¯s better to do it now then when school starts!

Second thing is the habit of not studying. What I loved the most about summer vacations was that I never had to write any tests. Of course there was homework, but it¡¯s nothing compared to writing a test. I don¡¯t think many kids study hard during the summer break. Well, all this changes when we go back to school. Eventually we will all have to write tests. And nobody wants a bad grade. When I was a kid, I found it very difficult to study when I returned to school. So, what can we do? For starters, it¡¯s a good idea to read a book every day. Whether it¡¯s a novel or a science fiction, let¡¯s try a little bit of reading. Also, it¡¯s good to study past materials. Take out your old note book from before the summer break. Do you remember everything? I am sure you don¡¯t. Review little bits every day. When you return to school, your brain will be ready to learn the new stuff. How much time is appropriate? About an hour a day will do. Come on! Don¡¯t tell me that you are too busy. Follow the first advice. Wake up early. And then, study for an hour before you head out to play!

Lastly, your health is important. Maybe this should be the first advice. Summer break is sure a good time to be active. But this isn¡¯t really true. You have time to play and visit places, but they are a very small portion of your summer break. When you are in school, you spend a lot of energy there. But during the summer break, you spend most of your time at home. It¡¯s a good idea to get some exercise every day. Jog or skip ropes in the afternoon. 30 minutes a day will keep your body in shape. All three advices are great habits to have any time of the year. So, are you ready for school? Why don¡¯t you take my advices? The time spent in school will be a lot easier for you! Believe me!
