The
long summer break is over. Time sure flies. No more waking up late. Now all of us are back
for more homework and tests. Yeah, it doesn¡¯t sound so great. Well,
there¡¯s no time to whine. We must get ourselves
together. Let¡¯s see what we can do to get our minds focused back on
school.
Wake Up!
Throughout the summer all of you probably got lazy. Of course you
were busy. But you were busy with playing and travelling. Now, you
will have to be busy with studying. How many of you have had a hard
time staying fully awake in class? I bet on the first day of
school, most of you felt drowsy. The first few days
are tiring. Sure, it¡¯s understandable. However, if you keep feeling
tired, you will have a hard time following with the course.
So, always get a good night sleep. And try to wake up early with a
fresh mind.
Listen Carefully.
One of the best ways to study is to listen to your teacher. There¡¯s
an old saying that listening to your teacher is the key to high grades. Make
a habit of writing down what
your teacher has said. Reading the text books and reviewing class materials are great. Yet,
the strongest weapon in studying is to
know what the teacher said during class time. Most likely, all the things
on the test will be spoken by your teacher. So, keep your ears open!
Be
Prepared.
Have you ever found yourself in search of a notebook or a pen? Being
prepared is extremely important. And it¡¯s a good idea to pack your bags the night
before. Pack your bags before you go to sleep. Look at the list of things you have to
take to school. Packing your bag in the morning is going to make you
confused. You are already
short of time. It¡¯s a very bad idea to rush when packing. So, follow my advice. Be prepared.
Organization is Helpful.
Take a good look at your notes. Is it well organized? Can you fully
understand the stuff you wrote in your notebook?
If not, you need to start organizing. Make clear notes. And make a
habit of this. Your notes are needed before tests and for homework.
You should also keep your desk organized. A clean environment is important
to do well. Imagine studying in a messy room. Wouldn¡¯t it be
hard to focus?
Have a Good Time!
Don¡¯t be upset that the summer break is over. There¡¯s no reason to
feel sad. You are back with your friends. And you should enjoy spending
time with them. You will also make new friends. A positive and happy mind is
what you need. It will be hard to learn and study if you are always
whining about returning to school. Put on a fat smile, and get ready
to study as well as play. I know all of you will have a great semester! |
