ago, it was common for nations to protect themselves by building large forts. What are forts? They
are high walls erected around the city.
These walls provided protection from
invaders. As time passed
and cities developed, such walls were
brought down.
Recently, a 3700 year old wall was found in the holy city of Jerusalem. The wall, found
by archaeologists, was the oldest
one ever found in Israel. Archaeologists say
this wall will help them understand what Jerusalem was like thousands
of years ago.
Scientists also say the discovered wall was made
very well. 3700 years is a very long time. The amazing thing is that the
wall is still in perfect condition. Put it this way.
The wall is from the time when characters in the Bible lived in Jerusalem.
It’s really hard to believe that the wall is still standing strong.
