I Believe in My Shoes!    [21-09-2009] There’s a new tennis princess in town. Her name is Melanie Oudin of the U.S. In the recent U.S. Open, she beat Nedia Petrova. This is amazing for many reasons. Nedia is No. 13 in the world. That means she’s a very good athlete. And Melanie is only 17 years old. At first Melanie was losing. But she came back to take the lead. Here’s the funny thing. Melanie says her power and strength come from her pink shoes. She wears customized adidas tennis shoes. She thanked her funky shoes for the victory! On her shoes, it says “Believe.” Can a pair of tennis shoes really give her the strength? Well, maybe it’s just an omen. Then again, it’s always good to believe in something.
