 The
world-famous scientist Stephen
Hawking has written a children’s book with his daughter entitled George’s Cosmic
Treasure Hunt. In the book, he has created a young scientist to fulfill his lifelong dream of going into
space.
Currently, Stephen Hawking
is teaching physics at Cambridge University
in England. He also loves writing books for children. In 2007, he
wrote a children’s sci-fi book George’s Secret
Key to the Universe with his daughter Lucy, who is a journalist and novelist. It is still a best-selling book in England.
Their new book George’s Cosmic Treasure Hunt is scheduled to be published by the end of
this month. Professor Hawking and his daughter have invented an interesting character
named Eric for the book. Eric is the father of the brilliant, party-loving scientist
George. He helps George travel to Mars to save the Earth from a bad
robot.
 The main character of the book,
George, is a fictional alter ego of Professor Hawking.
He created the character to make his dream of going into space come true. “My dad loved
the idea of creating a fictional character who can actually visit outer space, rather than
just thinking about it all the time,” Lucy explained.
The book explains various scientific theories
of space and time in easy and entertaining ways. George often throws fun science-themed
parties to help kids understand science in fun ways. “Our books have
encouraged children to take
another look at science,” said Lucy. “Children can learn easily about
cosmology, including moon rockets and satellites through these
books,” she added.
