Tomorrow is Halloween. It is celebrated on October 31 every year in many countries. When you think of Halloween, what¡¯s the first thing that comes into your mind? Many of you might say, ¡°witches¡± or ¡°black cats.¡± In the past, many people were afraid of black cats. Why? The color black was linked with darkness and evil. So, are black cats really evil? This week, let¡¯s learn some interesting myths and facts about black cats.

On Halloween, many children dress up as witches. This is because they are one of the symbols of Halloween. A long time ago, in the Middle Ages in England, people believed that black cats were demons. They thought that black cats helped witches to perform black magic. Some people believed that the cats were witches themselves and even thought they could fly on a broom!

There were many other superstitions about black cats. In the Middle Ages in Germany, it was believed that a black cat jumping on the bed of a sick person meant that the person would die soon. In Finland, black cats were thought to carry the souls of the dead into the afterlife.

Today, people in England, Scotland, and Australia believe that seeing a black cat crossing your path will actually bring good luck. However, people in Ireland, America, and India think it will bring bad luck.

So, are black cats really evil and bring bad luck? Of course not! They are just lovely cats. They are no different from other colored cats. Today, many people keep them as pets at home. Sadly, however, a lot of people still believe that black cats are fearsome. Many people even harm them on Halloween! Oh, no!

Black cats are beautiful animals. There is no evidence to support any of the superstitions about them. If you see a black cat on Halloween, be nice to it. Believe me, it is not a witch! It¡¯s just a lovely cat!
