Recently, The Kids Times paid a visit to Haengju Elementary School in Goyang City, Gyeonggi-do. The city is well-known for Haengju DaecheopÇàÁÖ´ëø where General Kwon Yul fought against the Japanese Army in 1593. The students of Haengju Elementary School are very proud of their city. The school is trying to keep up the spirit of their ancestors.

Haengju Elementary School is located right under Haengju Mountain. After being established in 1934, the school has continued to teach the children the value and importance of their ancestors.

In June, the school opened a special historical center for the students. They can experience and learn about the history of Haengju Daecheop. They can also learn about General Kwon who led the war successfully. The center shows the children videos of the battle.

Recently, over 100 Haengju Elementary School students gathered at the center for a special experience. First, they visited the brave General Kwon¡¯s monument and learned many things about him. Then, they watched videos about the battle. After having lunch, they came back to the school and had a chance to wear the clothes that were similar to the ones our ancestors wore in 1593 during the battle.

Haengju Elementary School is also working hard to help the students experience various fields. It offers English and Chinese classes as well as piano and flute classes. Anyone who wishes to learn one of the subjects can attend the class for free.

If you are looking for a school where you can enjoy nature while learning about Korean history and the world, Haengju Elementary School is where you can experience all of this!
