 Do
you think a leopard and a pet dog can be friends? It
seems very unlikely. Usually, one eats the other
for lunch! However, there are very special animal friends in South
Africa. Just take a look at the pictures!
It’s hard to believe, but the leopard and the golden retriever are best
friends!
The 10-month-old leopard Salati and Tommy the golden retriever do
everything together. They eat together, sleep together, and of course
play together! So, how did they become friends?
Salati lost her mom right after birth. She was brought to a conservation center for injured or endangered wild animals in
South Africa by a local veterinarian.
 She was
raised by an animal keeper named Richard
Brooker at the animal shelter. Richard is
also the owner of Tommy. When Tommy met the tiny leopard for the first
time 10 months ago, he showed a lot of interest to her. Soon, they
became best friends. Since then, the two special friends spend all
day together.
The nearly 1-year-old leopard
was very tiny when she first met Tommy. But she grew very fast and now she
is bigger than Tommy! She is also much faster than her friend. But
it doesn’t matter for the two friends.
They still take good care of each other.
They also continue to chase each other all day
before sitting down for a friendly cuddle and snooze. What special friends
they are! Let’s hope their special friendship keeps on going! |
