Prince Harry of England passed his Army pilot¡¯s course in April after completing his training. The 25-year-old prince now has the ability to fly military helicopters. He decided to become an Apache attack helicopter pilot. He may return to frontline duty in Afghanistan.

Prince Harry began his flying training with the Army Air Corps (AAC)À°±ºÇ×°ø´ë at its base in Hampshire in January last year and has been working hard to complete the course. He spent more than 90 hours in the air during the 22-week course. He successfully completed his final handling test last month.

The AAC commanders said the Prince¡¯s flying skills and ability are best suited to the Apache Helicopter. The Apache is a powerful attack helicopter and one of the most advanced military aircraft in the world.

Prince Harry served in Afghanistan as a forward air controller, directing air strikes for 10 weeks in 2007 and 2008. He hopes to return there in the near future. In fact, he decided to become a pilot to increase his chances of being deployed to the Middle East country. ¡°Getting out to Afghanistan again would be fantastic, and my best chance is to do it from a helicopter,¡± the Prince said.

On May 7, the young Prince¡¯s father, Prince Charles, presented him with his provisional wings at an event held in Hampshire. His father is the AAC¡¯s Colonel in Chief. During the ceremony, Harry won the Peter Adams Trophy, a prize for the best tactical ability.

¡°It is a huge honor to have the chance to train on the Apache, which is an awesome helicopter. There is still a huge mountain for me to climb if I am to pass the Apache training course. To be honest, I think it will be one of the biggest challenges in my life so far,¡± said Prince Harry. ¡°However, I am very determined. I do not want to let down the people who have shown faith in my ability to fly this aircraft.¡±

Prince Harry will start his 8-month training in July at the AAC¡¯s flying school to become an Apache attack helicopter pilot. Good luck, Prince Harry!
