Jeans Made in North Korea    [11-12-2009] North Korea is one of the poorest countries in the world. Countless people are dying of hunger in the country every day. So it’s hard to imagine the country would start a fashion business. Surprisingly, however, the communist nation has produced some fashionable jeans! Recently, a European fashion brand named “Noko” asked North Korean workers to work for them. The company believed it could be a wonderful chance to use the cheap and excellent workforce in North Korea. Of course, it wasn’t an easy process. The North had never made any trade or diplomatic relationships with Western countries. Sweden, one of only 7 countries to have an embassy in North Korea, made a difference.
