Setting a new world record is extremely hard. But for an American man named Ashrita Furman, it is just a part of life. At present, he has set nearly 400 world records!
In fact, he holds more Guinness World Records than anyone else on Earth! Yes, that¡¯s right. As you may have guessed, he is called the ¡°King of the Guinness World Records.¡±

Born in 1954 in New York, Mr. Furman started breaking previous world records in 1979 by doing 27,000 jumping jacks in New York City.
Since then, he has set numerous new world records on all seven continents and in more than 30 different countries over 31 years. Currently, he holds the official record for ¡°the most records held at the same time by an individual.¡±

Mr. Furman holds countless interesting world records including pushing a car for 27 kilometers in 24 hours, walking 130 kilometers with a milk bottle on his head, and translating, and reciting a poem in 111 languages in 24 hours.
He is also the record holder for doing the most sit ups in an hour and the longest hopping on a kangaroo ball.

So, why has breaking world records become his lifetime hobby? It all started when he was a little boy. One day, he had a chance to read the Guinness Book of Records and he was inspired by the amazing people. The young boy decided to break one himself some day.

His dream came true in 1979, and he kept going on to set new world records. ¡°When I set my first record by doing 27,000 jumping jacks, I felt over the moon. So I immediately began training for the next record and I haven¡¯t stopped since!¡± said the record king. Isn¡¯t this man really amazing?
