 Parrots are interesting birds.
Parrots are very good at mimicking sounds. Some pet parrots can say many
human words! Today, many people in the world keep them as pets. Did
you know that there are 328 different kinds of parrots in the world?

Parrots started living on the Earth about 50 million years ago. They
come in many different colors and sizes. Most parrots from South America
are green, while some American parrots
are blue or yellow. In fact, the birds come in
almost every color of the rainbow! But their eggs are always a simple
white.
Parrots usually eat fruits, seeds, buds, flowers, nectar, and pollen. They also eat insects sometimes. If you
keep a pet parrot, never feed it chocolate. It is
poisonous to its body! Larger
parrots such as the macaws and cockatoos can live more than
75 years, while smaller ones live up to only 15 years.
Only pet parrots are good at mimicking. They can easily imitate the sounds of other
birds and animals, even humans. Wild parrots do not imitate.
The African gray parrots are the best
