at the pictures! What is the hen doing? It’s hard to believe, but she
is brooding the puppies! What
is going on? The hen’s name is Mabel. She
is one year old. She lives on a farm in England. According to her
owner Edward Tate, Mabel
is taking good care of the puppies.
About a month ago, his dog gave birth to four puppies. Mr. Tate put
them in a small basket. While the dog was
outside in the yard, Mabel hopped into the
basket to keep the puppies warm.
Now, she is rearing the puppies like
they are her own chicks. “Mabel was hatched
on my farm about a year ago. She
would have gone onto someone’s dinner table, but I saved her and brought her into the house,”
said Mr. Tate. “I guess she wants to thank me for that. Maybe
that is why she is taking care of the puppies to help me,” he added with a big smile. Isn’t
Mabel amazing? |
