I¡¯m sure most of you have seen cows. They are usually very big and strong. But have you ever seen a cow that is smaller than a sheep? There really is such a small cow in northern England! The special cow¡¯s name is Swallow. No, she is not a calf. In fact, she is 11 years old!
Swallow was born in 1999 in West Yorkshire. When she was born, her owner Caroline Ryder recognized that she was much smaller than the other cows. But she thought Swallow would grow bigger later on. However, since then the small cow hasn¡¯t really grown.

The 11-year-old cow measures only 84 centimeters from hind to foot. This means that she is even smaller than a sheep! As a matter of fact, Swallow has been named the world¡¯s smallest cow by the Guinness Book of World Records.
Due to her extra small size, her owner keeps her as a pet. Swallow spends a lot of time with Caroline. She also enjoys listening to a radio in her cowshed instead of working! You may think she is not very useful. To our surprise, however, she gave birth to nine regular-sized calves! They are a lot larger than their mother. Now Swallow is pregnant with her 10th baby. What an amazing cow!
