Who
doesn¡¯t love sweet chocolate? Delicious chocolate gives you energy
and makes you feel better when you are tired or stressed. Dark chocolate
is even good for your heart! There are many ways to enjoy chocolate.
We can drink it, cook it, and crunch it! So, do you think
sharing chocolate with your pet is ok, too?
Most pets can eat human food. For example, dogs are omnivores and they can eat
almost everything we eat. But of course feeding dogs human food is
not very good for their health. If you want to keep your pet dog healthy,
you shouldn¡¯t give it human food. Especially you shouldn¡¯t give it
chocolate.
Chocolate
candy may be a treat for you, but it can
pose a serious threat to
your pet. They can suffer from vomiting, diarrhea, irregular heartbeat, and
heart attacks after eating
it. In severe cases, chocolate can even kill your pet!
According to Susan Nelson, a veterinarian at Kansas State
University, a substance in chocolate called
theobromineÅ׿Àºê·Î¹Î causes problems in animals. ¡°Eating chocolate often
causes problems in pets, especially dogs, but it can also harm cats,
birds, rats, and ferrets,¡± she explained. ¡°If your pet eats
a large amount of chocolate,
you should take it to a veterinarian immediately. In order to
protect your pets from chocolate,
keep all foods out of their reach,¡± she advised. |
