Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is one of the greatest musicians in history. He was called a "Child wonder." Mozart showed musical talent at a very young age.
The musical genius was playing the piano like a pro by the age of 3! By the age of 5, he was writing his own music. He even put on a concert when he was just 6! Mozart composed over 600 compositions throughout his lifetime.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on January 27, 1756 in Salzburg, Austria. His father and sister were talented musicians. Mozart showed musical gifts at a very early age. He began to compose his first music when he was only 5 years old.
As a child wonder, Mozart toured Europe for three years with his father and sister. He played for the rich, royalty and the public. People loved his music very much. Another famous Austrian composer Haydn told Mozart's father that "Mozart is the greatest composer known to me in person. He has the greatest knowledge of composition."

In 1768, Mozart composed his first comic opera "La finta semplice (The Simple Pretense)." From 1775 to 1780, he stayed mainly in Salzburg. He composed many works during this period, including his first important piano sonatas (K. 279 to K. 284, 1775). In 1782, he married a woman named Constanze Weber.

As an adult, Mozart continued to play all over Europe. Although he was a very talented composer, Mozart made very little money. So he often had to borrow money from his friends. He also began teaching to make money. Sadly, Mozart and his wife became sick from not eating well. On December 5, 1791, Mozart passed away at the age of 35. He was buried in Vienna, the capital of Austria.
In his short life, Mozart accomplished many feats which may not ever be repeated. By the time he died, he had completed 41 symphonies, 27 piano concertos, 23 string quartets, 17 piano sonatas, 7 major operas, and numerous works for voice and other instruments. His music continues to be played today. And there are many musical celebrations across the world on his birthday. Every year in both Vienna and Salzburg, there are many festivals to celebrate Mozart's music.
