the wild cats such as lions,
cheetahs, and leopards at a zoo is a lot
of fun. However, going near them in the wild is a different story.
You should never go near them if you happen to bump into them outside the
zoo! Surprisingly, however, there
is a lion lover who plays with them and even sleeps with them! Who
is that amazing man?
His name is none other than Kevin Richardson.
He is also known as the ‘Lion Whisperer’ because of his love for the
lions. As a zoologist, he studies animal
behavior. He raises and trains some of the most dangerous
animals known to man at a lion park in South Africa. There are over
80 lions as well as other wild animals such as cheetahs, jackals, and hyenas there.
 Unlike other animal trainers,
Kevin does not use whips, sticks or chains to train the animals.
Instead, he uses love, understanding, and trust! He treats the wild animals with
respect. And guess what! The big cats love him very much
and never attack him!
Kevin loves the big cats so much that he spends time with the lions
all day long. Sometimes he even sleeps
inside the cage with them. “I can confidently look into their eyes and
I know how to interact with the wild animals,”
he said. “I love swimming with the lions and cuddling newborn hyenas. They are
just amazingly lovely and beautiful,”
he added.
 “Some people
think that I’m crazy, but I have developed
very close bonds with the lions through my unusual training method,” he explained. “Thanks to my special bond
with them, I could learn the particular personality of each animal
easily. Now I know what makes
them angry, happy, upset, and irritated.”
The cat lover has made numerous documentaries about
these beautiful animals. Recently, he also made a movie called The White Lion to
raise awareness of the importance of protecting the lions. Let’s
hope his movie will help people better understand the wild cats! |
