 Having
someone special in your life is a true blessing. Most of you are
still too young to have a life partner. However, when
you grow up, you will find one!
In Korea, both men and women have to be over 18 years old to get engaged or married. To
our surprise, however, the world’s youngest couple is much younger
than that!
On October 22, two Syrian children became the
world’s youngest couple ever to get engaged. Five-year-old Khalid
and three-year-old Hala fell deeply in love with each other and decided
to become engaged. The boy met the girl while enjoying a family trip
in the Mediterranean Sea this summer.
It was love at first sight.
 According
to the boy’s parents, he was so love sick after coming home from the
vacation that he refused to go back to his
nursery unless little Hala came,
too. So Khalid’s mother contacted Hala’s family.
Surprisingly, she heard that the little girl was suffering from similar symptoms of loneliness.
That’s how the families of both children let them get engaged. The
two families invited their family members and friends for the special
engagement ceremony, which
was held in the boy’s house. The young couple even exchanged rings!
 “They
are in love but we know that Khalid or Hala might change their mind
in the future. But they are very happy at this stage,” said the boy’s father,
Juma. “We respect their choice and
take the engagement seriously. In fact, we are already planning
a wedding for them. They can get legally married in 10 years
when Khalid becomes 15 and Hala becomes 12.”
