The most popular octopus in the world, Paul, passed away last month. On October 27, Sea Life Aquarium in Germany, where he lived, announced the successor to the psychic octopus. According to the aquarium, the new octopus will also be called Paul. He was born in France and presented to the public last week.

Paul the psychic octopus gained huge popularity during the 2010 World Cup, held in South Africa. He predicted all seven of Germany¡¯s World Cup wins as well as Spain¡¯s victory over the Netherlands in the final.

Paul made his predictions by opening the lid of one of two plastic boxes, each containing a muscle and bearing a national flag. The English-born octopus correctly picked the winners and became very famous. He died due to natural causes at the age of two on October 26.

The aquarium will train his successor to predict the winners of soccer matches like the late Paul. However, no one is sure if the new octopus will have the same psychic talents as his world-famous predecessor. We will just have to wait and see!
