Monday, an English sailor named Owen Warboys launched a very special boat.
To our surprise, he built the boat by himself at home for nearly 30 years! So, why
did he build the boat?
Mr. Warboys, a retired marine engineer, wanted to
have his own boat but he could not afford it. So he decided
to make one at home! At the time, he thought it would take only 5 years to build
his own boat. He started building the 12-meter-long boat in 1982.
But after suffering from a few problems, it ended up taking him 28
years to complete!
The 66-year-old sailor said that he is very happy to finally have
his own boat. “There were times when I thought it would never end.
Now that it’s finished I
am really pleased and proud of what
I have done!” he said. He named his home-made boat “Wight Dolphin.”
