may kiss the bride” is not something you expect to hear from a robot.
To our surprise, however, a robot called “I-Fairy” actually
said that on May 16 in Tokyo, Japan! Yes, that’s right. As you can
see in the picture, the robot with flashing eyes wedded a couple!
The wedding was the first time a marriage had been led by
a robot. The 1.5-meter-tall robot successfully wedded the happy
couple. For the couple, having a robot conduct their wedding was
a natural choice since both of them are employed in the robotics industry. “This
was a lot of fun. I-Fairy made my wedding extra-special!” said the
happy bride, Satoko Inoue.
Japan’s robotics industries are one of the most advanced in the world. The
Japanese government actively supports the field for future growth and many different
types of robots are being used in everyday life in Japan. Let’s wait
and see what more the robots can do for humans in the future! |
