Today,
about 600 million people all over the world use the famous social networking
website Facebook. People can easily connect with each other and
share pictures and information
through the site. These days many teenagers are joining the website. But
do you know who the oldest Facebook user is? You may be surprised to know her
age!
The oldest Facebook user in the world is Lillian Lowe. She lives in
the U.K. and she is the grandmother and great-grandmother of many
children. So, how old is she? Don¡¯t be surprised; she will celebrate her 104th birthday
soon!
She
may be very old, but age is not an obstacle for the world¡¯s
oldest Facebook user. She is still young at heart and enjoys
her online adventure by logging on several times a week. She
regularly keeps her online
friends updated about her life using her iPad. She also keeps track
of what her seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren are up
to through the networking website.
¡°It¡¯s just lovely to be able to see all the latest photographs and messages
from my large family,¡± said Mrs.
Lowe. ¡°I go on Facebook about twice a week and I have about
30 friends at the moment so there¡¯s
quite a lot to catch up on. I can recommend it for grandparents
to keep in touch with their
family without ringing them all the time.¡±
Born in 1907, Mrs. Lowe can still remember the news of the Titanic
sinking in 1912. She also
remembers the First World War that began in the summer of 1914. ¡°I
have seen so many things throughout my lifetime. I think virtually everything has
been invented during my time.¡±
The granny
has seen a few things over the years, so nothing really shocks her
these days. ¡°I¡¯m very keen on modern technology and I¡¯m
a big fan of social-networking
sites. I love them because they are very exciting. They are a wonderful
way to find out about things. I¡¯m also interested in Google Earth
these days,¡± she said.
According to Mrs. Lowe¡¯s grandchildren, she is always eager to learn
something new. She tells them that age is just a number and as long as your heart is
young, your physical age doesn¡¯t really
matter! Keep enjoying social
networking through Facebook, Mrs. Lowe! |
