 Have
you ever seen an opossum? It is a type marsupial found in many countries.
However, there is one very special opossum in Germany. Her name is
Heidi and she lives in Leipzig Zoo. Despite being cross-eyed and abandoned in her home country
of the U.S. she has stolen the hearts of the German people. In fact,
she has become a media sensation!
Heidi is so popular that she has her
own hit song on YouTube and even her own toy. She also has more than
65,000 fans on Facebook. Heidi was found outside an animal shelter in the U.S. along with her sister, Naira.
They moved to Germany in May of last year and are due to go on display this July.
Even though she is not yet
opened to the public, Heidi has still managed to become a hit. Photos
of her were first seen after reporters went to photograph a new area in
the zoo.
The zoo keepers were very surprised
that the photos had became such a big hit. They were delighted by
the lyrics to her song that go,
“Heidi is so sweet/ How nice that she exists/ I fell so in love
with her from the first.”
Now the zoo has even put up a new webpage about Heidi. Enjoy your
