 Gorillas
are intelligent animals. They
share many similarities with
humans, too. For example, they can use
tools like us. They also
have fingerprints like humans!
If you visit a wild animal park in Kent, in the U.K., you can even
see a gorilla that walks just like a man!
Recently, a 21-year-old gorilla
called Ambam became very popular on the Internet.
Someone filmed him walking on his
hind legs and uploaded the video clip to
a video-sharing site. Over 150,000 people have viewed the short clip on
YouTube.
In the video clip, Ambam is strolling around the park.
Unlike other gorillas, he walks on his two hind legs. “Ambam’s father
Bitam used to display the same behavior if he had handfuls
of food to carry,” explained Phil Ridges, a
gorilla keeper at the zoo.
According to Mr. Ridges,
all gorillas can walk on their hind legs to some extent. However,
he has never seen any gorilla that can do it like Ambam. “Maybe he
walks on his two feet to use his both hands and carry a lot more food,”
he said.
Whatever the reason may be, it is certain
that Ambam is not an ordinary gorilla. In fact,
he is very famous at the park for his unique walking style! |
