When
your tooth hurts, you go to the dentist. After getting a
treatment, you feel a lot
better. Taking good care of your teeth is very important. Then, what
can animals do when their teeth hurt? Well, they can ask dentists
to visit them! Last Wednesday, a polar bear living at a zoo
in Scotland got a visit from dentists for treatment.
The polar bear¡¯s name is Walker and he lives at the Highland Wildlife
Park in Scotland. He came to Scotland in November last year from a
zoo in Holland. Recently, he was suffering
from a sore tooth. A team of four
vets, including a dentist, paid
a visit to the zoo to help the two-year-old bear.
He needed
dental surgery due to an infection, which had left
him with a swollen jaw. However, lifting the polar bear on
to the operating table wasn¡¯t easy.
Since he weighs more than 240 kilograms,
10 people had to lift him!
¡°The vets had to remove the infected tooth and the operation
lasted four hours. Thankfully,
the operation was very successful and Walker is totally healthy again
now,¡± said a park spokesman. ¡°I hope he will
take better care of his teeth from now on!¡± |
