Do you know what the tallest building in the world is? The building is located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is 828 meters tall. Now, can you guess the name of the building? Yes, it is the Burj Khalifa! On March 28, an amazing skyscraper climber from France climbed the tall building! His name is Alain Robert, but he is better known as ¡°Spider-Man.¡±

Last Monday at around 6 pm, Mr. Robert began his climb up the metal and glass-covered building. Hundreds of people came to see the momentous event. ¡°I hope to go all the way to the top,¡± he said before the climb. ¡°It won¡¯t be easy to climb the building because of the spire¡¯s tapered design.¡±

He used a rope and harness because the tower¡¯s owner asked him to use safety equipments. Mr. Robert, who has climbed more than 70 skyscrapers all over the world, usually climbs tall buildings without any safety equipments.

Before the climb, Mr. Robert prepared himself by doing push-ups, pull-ups, and stretches. He also ate a lot of carbohydrate foods such as pasta to become more energetic. ¡°Skyscraper climbing requires a lot of energy,¡± he said.

Even though the 48-year-old daredevil looked very confident, the spectators felt uneasy watching him climb the tallest building in the world. Viewed from the ground, he looked like a tiny dot. An ambulance was parked near the building with other emergency vehicles, just in case.

Mr. Robert moved calmly and quickly along the polished metal facade. At last, he climbed up the Burj Khalifa successfully! In the end, he scrambled up the spire quickly and hung from the top proudly. It took him about six hours to conquer the world¡¯s tallest building.

Mr. Robert has climbed the Empire State Building in New York City, Willis Tower in Chicago, and the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, using only his hands and legs. In 2004, he also conquered Taipei 101 in Taiwan, which was the world¡¯s tallest building before the Burj Khalifa was built. He really is Spider-Man!
