It
is important to help each other. Most people try to help people who
need their help. For example, if you see a grandmother carrying heavy bags, you
will help her carry the bags. If you see a blind person who is lost
on the street, you will also help him or her find their way home.
But do you think animals help each other, too? To our surprise, the
answer is YES! Here¡¯s a heart-warming story of a
horse that gets help from her animal friends.
A 15-year-old blind horse that lives in an animal rescue facility in
Montana, U.S. is leading a happy life thanks to the help of her
other animal friends. The white mare is called ¡°Sissy¡± and
she lives with 200 other animals at the animal shelter. The animals
living there include flightless ducks, abused alpacas, clawless cats, and homeless llamas.
The sightless quarter horse is always accompanied
by a company of goats and sheep that guide and protect her throughout the day. Her animal
friends provide guidance for her by directing her to the feeding area, showing her
where to drink, and leading her into the stalls during cold or rainy
weather.
Michelle Feldstein and her husband Al run the 300-acre shelter, north
of Yellowstone National Park. Thanks to their love and support, the
animals there lead happy, healthy, and peaceful lives. The couple
feed the animals, treat them when they are sick, and keep their animal
friends warm during the winter. They also have a guesthouse for people
and all their profits go to running the animal facility.
Let¡¯s hope that Sissy, the horse, and her sheep and goat friends live
a long and happy life together! |
