Recently, North Korea attacked South Korea. Many houses on Yeonpyeong Island were destroyed and some people were hurt and killed due to the North¡¯s bombardment. Not only South Korea but also the whole world is angry at North Korea¡¯s heartless act. According to the Japanese daily Asahi Shimbun, it was Kim Jong-un who ordered the military to attack South Korea. So, who is Kim Jong-un?

Kim Jong-un was born in 1983 as the third and youngest son of the current North Korean leader Kim Jong-il. His mother Ko Young-hee died in 2004. He is good at English since he studied at the English-language International School of Berne in Switzerland until 1998. However, people didn¡¯t know who he was because he used the name ¡°Pak Chol¡± to hide his identity and he pretended to be the son of a driver. As a teenager, Kim Jong-un used to enjoy skiing and playing basketball with his friends. He was also a huge fan of Michael Jordan, the legendary basketball player.

Kim Jong-un is expected to become the new leader of North Korea after his father. On January 15, 2009, Kim Jong-il appointed Kim Jong-un to be his successor. On September 27, 2010, Kim Jong-un became a Daejang, which is the same as a U.S. four-star general. On September 28, 2010, he was named as vice chairman of the Central Military CommissionÁß¾Ó±º»çÀ§¿øȸ.

Kim Jong-un is known as a stubborn man who never admits defeat. He also enjoys luxuries like his father. He reportedly has $4 billion hidden in secret accounts in European banks. According to recent intelligence reports, he enjoys collecting luxury goods such as top-quality wines and cars. He even collects expensive dogs as a hobby.

Kim Jong-un and his father love dogs very much and they spend a lot of money on pedigree dogs from France and Switzerland every year. Kim Jong-un also buys expensive foreign dog food, shampoo, and other pet products while his people are dying of hunger. He even invites foreign animal doctors to Pyongyang to provide healthcare for his dogs. Ironically, however, according to his former Japanese chef Kenji Fujimoto, the young man also enjoys dog stew. We will have to keep an eye on this young man and prepare for his reckless acts.
