Prince
Harry of England is getting ready to return to Afghanistan. Currently, he is getting
training to pilot Apache helicopter. He will
be deployed to the one of
the most dangerous countries in the
world next year after completing his training. His family is worried
about his safety. However, the young
prince is determined to serve his duty in Afghanistan. Now his grandmother,
Queen Elizabeth II is supporting his decision with blessing.
Back in 2008, Prince Harry served in Afghanistan for
just 10 weeks. This was because an Australian magazine breached a news blackout and disclosed his whereabouts. The Taliban
threatened to kill the Prince
and his squad. Since his presence in Afghanistan could
increase the risk to other soldiers, he had to come back to England.
However,
he kept thinking about the ways to return to Afghanistan. So he chose
to learn how to pilot the Apache, rather than working on the ground.
The Prince completed the first stage
of his Apache helicopter training in April. Then, he was promoted
to captain. He will complete the second stage of training at the end
of this year. His instructors praised him as
a ¡®natural pilot.¡¯ ¡°My father
was a helicopter pilot, so hopefully it will run in the family,¡± said
the Prince with a bright smile.
Now he is getting ready to go back to Afghanistan. ¡°I¡¯ve always wanted
to go back to Afghanistan. I¡¯m very excited to become an Apache
pilot in the country,¡± he said. ¡°My family members will be concerned
about me returning to the front line. However, I will
go back to Afghanistan to serve my country when my training is over,¡±
Prince Harry said firmly. ¡°My grandmother understands
more than anybody else that I¡¯m serving my country and that¡¯s what
I chose to do. And that¡¯s what I will continue to do. She has given
her blessing to my return to active duty in Afghanistan.¡±
The Prince
could¡¯ve chosen to live a safer, easier life at Buckingham Palace
in London. However, he is a brave adventurer and activist who
loves trying new things. In April
this year, he even explored the North Pole with a group of
disabled servicemen. He joined the charity trip to help the
injured servicemen adapt to civilian life. ¡°We have to look after our wounded. There
are so many wounded guys now and they need to be looked after for
years to come,¡± he explained. His expedition to the Arctic will be documented in a film. The film ¡°Harry¡¯s Arctic
Heroes¡± will be broadcast later this month.
Let¡¯s hope the Prince keeps inspiring others to live their lives to the fullest like he does! |
