On February 21, a welcoming ceremony for the 5th Kids Reporters was held at Seoul Youth Hostel in Namsan. This year, nearly 100 children from all across the nation were chosen as Kids Reporters, beating hundreds of other applicants. After the welcoming ceremony, about 40 Kids Reporters participated in a 3-day camp.

Our proud 5th Kids Reporters looked very excited. Each one of them received a reporter¡¯s ID from The Kids Times CEO Lee Jung-sik. They promised to do their best as Kids Reporters and write good articles for The Kids Times.

At around 6 o¡¯clock the camp started. At first, they felt awkward, but while enjoying dinner and fun ice-breaking games together, they became close friends. After having a lot of fun together, the Kids Reporters took a special lecture on success and vision. Kim Ji-yoon, a lecturer from the Hunet Junior Success School (junior.hunet.co.kr), told them the importance of having a vision.

On the second day of the camp, the Kids Reporters learned how to write articles in English from the chief editor Julia Baik. She explained the Kids Reporters the important steps to write an article - from picking a topic to organizing the contents.

Then, they started making newspapers of their own as groups. A group was made up of five to six children. Each group chose a topic and worked together as a team. The Kids Reporters discussed many things with their group members from making a title to finding pictures for their articles. While working with their team members, they learned how to cooperate with others.

After making newspapers, they had a chance to make a presentation about their articles. They worked as groups for the presentation, too. They made slides, using PowerPoint and practiced to deliver their messages effectively in front of everyone.

It wasn¡¯t easy to make a presentation in English. Most of them felt very nervous and even forgot what they had to say. However, with other team members¡¯ help, everyone managed to deliver their messages and the 3-day camp ended successfully.

Everyone did a great job! We are very proud of you, Kids Reporters!
