Apple¡¯s legendary CEO Steve Jobs resigned on August 24. He said he could no longer handle the job. His decision appears to be the result of his poor health condition. He lost a lot of weight and looks very weak. He is suffering from pancreatic cancer. Tim Cook will take Job¡¯s place as new CEO of one of the most powerful companies in the world.

Born on February 24, 1955 in San Francisco in the U.S., Steve Jobs is one of the most influential businessmen in the world. He turned Apple into a very powerful company by introducing a series of successful products such as the iPod, iPhone, and iPad. The legendary CEO is also known for his amazing presentation skills. Whenever he made a presentation, hundreds of thousands of people came to see him. Wearing his symbolic uniform of jeans, black mock-turtlenecks, and sneakers, he mesmerized the audience with his impressive presentations.

Thanks to the huge success of his company, Jobs became one of the richest people in the world. However, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2004. In July 2004, he underwent a surgery to remove the cancerous tumor and it was successful. During his absence, Tim Cook ran the company for two months. Cook was the head of worldwide sales and operations at Apple.

After the operation, Jobs became healthy again and led his company extremely well. However, in 2009, he said that he had been suffering from a hormone imbalance for several months. Then, he took a medical leave. In April 2009, he underwent a liver transplant at a hospital in Memphis, Tennessee and it was very successful. During his medical leave, Tim Cook ran day-to-day operations for several months and Jobs continued to be involved in major strategic decisions at the company.

One and a half years after he returned from his liver transplant, Jobs took another medical leave of absence in January this year. However, he made appearances at the iPad 2 launch event on March 2. In June, he also got involved in Apple¡¯s important events and made impressive presentations.

Recently, Jobs announced his resignation and named Tim Cook, Apple's chief operating officer, as new CEO. ¡°I thought about the day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple¡¯s CEO. Unfortunately, that day has come. I believe Tim Cook will lead this company successfully,¡± said Jobs.

Born on November 1, 1960, the new CEO of Apple, Tim Cook joined the company in 1998. He served as the company¡¯s CEO for several months whenever Jobs was taking his medical leave of absence. Cook is known as an active man who enjoys hiking and cycling. He is also known as a hard worker who starts his day at around 4:30 in the morning by sending emails. He used to hold Sunday night staff meetings by telephone to prepare for the next week. Let¡¯s wait and see how the new CEO leads Apple. Good luck, Mr. Cook!
