We do not have to worry about being hungry. Most of us probably eat three healthy meals a day. However, many people in the world are suffering from hunger. In many poor countries, people don¡¯t have enough food to eat. As a matter of fact, a lot of children are dying of hunger every day. If we care a little more, we can save many lives. Recently, a charity group saved the life of an African baby named Minhaj Gedi Farah.

Famine is a serious problem in many countries around the world. Every day, many children and babies die of starvation. Underdeveloped nations in Africa and some parts of Asia face this problem.
It is very sad to see little children getting sick and dying from not having any food or water. Minhaj was one of these babies who was on the brink of death. He was not fed properly and got very sick. However, a charity group saved the little boy¡¯s life. Now he is very healthy.

Earlier this year in July, a weak little baby lay silently under a mosquito net on a hospital bed at a refugee camp in Kenya, the baby was extremely malnourished and boney. The Somali boy did not even have energy to cry. The little boy was Minhaj, who was just seven months. His family was very poor and hopeless.

Babies like him usually do not survive. Fortunately, an annual fundraising event in New York, which was organized by the International Rescue Committee±¹Á¦±¸Á¶À§¿øȸ, gave the boy a second chance at life. Aid was given to babies like Minhaj. Hospitals in refugee camps performed sessions of intensive feeding to get the babies healthy. Minhaj is now a plump and strong child who loves to smile.

Famine causes thousands of deaths of Somali children every year. There are many groups, like UNICEF, which try their best to give a helping hand. However, almost two million Somalis do not have access to any food aid. Many people ran away from their country to Kenya because of war and hunger.

Children like Minhaj need our help. People need to start caring more so we can prevent children from dying of hunger. We are fortunate to have food on our tables every day. What are some ways we can help these poor and hungry children?
