It is always heartbreaking when your beloved pet dies. It is even more painful when you have had countless memories with that pet for a long time. Yumiko Shinohara is experiencing this pain firsthand. The 42-year-old¡¯s pet dog died on December 5. Her beloved dog Pusuke died at the age of 26. That is 125 in human years!

Pusuke was listed as the world¡¯s oldest living dog in the Guinness Book of Records 2011. His owner said that he received a lot of love. Shinohara walked him twice a day, fed him two meals daily, and occasionally gave him snacks. She exercised him daily, and they slept next to each other every night.

The average life expectancy of a dog is about 12 years. Pusuke lived more than twice that number. Pusuke¡¯s owner said that he had been acting normally on the day of his death. However, he started losing his appetite and had breathing problems on December 5. Shinohara said that Pusuke passed away peacefully five minutes after she returned home.

¡°I think Pusuke waited for me to come home,¡± Shinohara said sadly. ¡°I¡¯m so sad. I would like to tell him that I appreciate that he lived a long, healthy life with me.¡± Pusuke was born in 1985. At the time, Shinohara was still in high school. The loyal pet acted as a guard dog for his owner. Rest in peace, Pusuke!
