Rapunzel¶óǬÁ©, a German fairy tale, has been retold to children for centuries. Rapunzel is famous for her long, beautiful golden hair. Her hair is unbelievably long because she has never cut her hair in her entire life. To our surprise, you can find a modern version of Rapunzel in China!

Have you watched Disney¡¯s animated version of the long-haired girl titled Tangled? In the Disney rework, Rapunzel¡¯s hair is 21 meters long and has magical healing powers. Her golden hair surely looks beautiful and magical.

A woman in China has been working to grow her hair to become the Chinese version of Rapunzel. In the city of Taiyuan, located in Shanxi Province, there lives a 55-year-old woman with hair that measures about 2.53 meters long. Her name is Ni Linmei and she is the mother of two children.

She hopes to become the woman with the longest hair in the 2011 Guinness Book of World Records. Linmei admitted that she has not cut her hair for 14 years. in her town, she is famous for her extensive braids.

She combs her extremely long hair once a day. Her two daughters help her. To measure her hair, she has to stand on a chair. Although having split ends is an unavoidable problem, her hair is in great condition.
She claims that her hair grows 16.7 centimeters a year. She will attempt to beat the world record for the longest hair in a few years. The current record for the longest hair is held by Xie Quiping, who is also from China. Her hair measured about 5.6 meters on May 8, 2004. Let's hope Linmei will one day beat that record!
