Recently, a British girl amazed the world. Her name is Amelia Hempleman-Adams.
She is only 16 years old. What did she do?
She became the youngest person in the world to ski to the South Pole!

Hempleman-Adams, the daughter of adventurer David Hempleman-Adams, flew to the Farthest Point South on November 26 with her father. She went there to become the youngest to ski to the South Pole.

She had to spend 17 days in extremely cold weather. Temperatures often went as low as minus 50 degrees Celsius. On December 9, the amazing girl reached the South Pole after traveling on skis for 156 kilometers for more than two weeks!

¡°The biggest challenges were the freezing cold, dried food, and dad¡¯s snoring,¡± she said.
¡°However, my adventure was an extraordinary experience!¡± Her father added, ¡°Amelia has done amazingly well. I¡¯m very proud of her.¡±

Amelia is a high school student so she said she brought a lot of homework with her. However, she couldn¡¯t do any homework on her trip. This was because her father took most of the books out of her sledge to keep the weight down. ¡°I think I¡¯ll have a lot of homework to do over the Christmas holidays,¡± she said.
So what does the new world record holder look forward to want the most? ¡°I missed my friends so much. So I want to spend some time with them,¡± she said. ¡°However, I¡¯m most looking forward to a comfy bed, a hot shower, and some chocolate brownies!¡±

Congratulations, Amelia! You did an amazing job! Enjoy as many hot showers and chocolate brownies as you can!
