Dogs
are man¡¯s best friend. They are very loyal to their owners. A large number of families
keep dogs at home and treat them as family members. In fact,
many people share many things with them,
including their beds and
food. However, some human foods are harmful to dogs. If you have a
pet dog, don¡¯t feed it these
foods.
Dogs cannot digest most dairy products because they
don¡¯t have the enzyme to digest the lactose in milk. If they
eat dairy foods, they can suffer from diarrhea. Although most dogs
can digest small amounts of cheese or plain yogurt, it is best
not to give them most dairy products altogether.
Avoid giving your dog raw egg whites. Egg whites can
reduce the level of biotin, one of the B vitamins.
Biotin is vital to your dog¡¯s growth and health. If your
dog eats a raw egg, it can get food poisoning and suffer
from hair loss. Raw eggs also
often contain bacteria such as salmonella. However, it is
OK to give your dog cooked eggs.
Grapes and raisins can be toxic to dogs. They can cause vomiting and diarrhea. If
a dog eats large amounts of grapes or raisins, it can even experience kidney failure. Nuts are
not good for dogs, either. They can cause bladder stones in dogs. Onions
can make a dog short of oxygen because it
reduces the number of red blood cells, which carry oxygen through the
body. Garlic, peaches, and pears can make dogs sick,
too. |
