 Sometimes,
animals build unlikely friendships. Usually animals
don’t get along well with other
species. But you can meet
a special animal family if you visit Essex in the United Kingdom.
A duckling named Dennis has
an unlikely father - a Labrador Retriever!
Recently, a 4-year-old dog named Fred adopted a duckling named
Dennis. This was because the duckling’s mother was killed by a fox.
Dennis was less than a week old when
he lost his mother. When Fred found the little, helpless duckling, he licked him, and Dennis started
following the dog around.
Since then, they spend all day together.
According to Fred’s owner, Jeremy Goldsmith,
the dog and the duckling sleep together and play together. They even
go swimming in the local pond together! “It is amazing
to see the two of them together. When we found Dennis, he was very
weak. He clearly would not have survived another day on his
own,” said Mr. Goldsmith.
Mr. Goldsmith said Dennis snuggles up to Fred at night. “Dennis will
clamber up on top of Fred
and sleep there. I don't think the duckling would have made it without
Fred. His loving nature really does make a difference. He is
like a friendly dad to other animals.” |
