Untitled Document

Have you ever heard of Eric Carle? If you have, then perhaps you¡¯ve heard of, or read, his famous book The Very Hungry Caterpillar¹è°íÇ ¾Ö¹ú·¹? First published in 1969, it is still loved by children all over the world. It has been translated into 55 languages.
In fact, Mr. Carle is recognized as the most influential children¡¯s author. Right now, an exhibition titled The World of Eric Carle is being held at the Cube Art Museum in Seongnam Art Center in Imae. On April 19, Kids reporters and staff reporters paid a visit to the museum, which had 99 pieces of his unique and beautiful artworks.

Let¡¯s find out what our Kids reporters had to say about the exhibition!

When I was young, I liked to read books by Eric Carle. So I wanted to go to the museum. When I went to the museum, I loved the pictures. They were much more beautiful. The staff there told us stories about the pictures. The kids had a lot of fun. My favorite book was The Mixed-Up Chameleon because Mr. Carle used unique colors. The book is about a chameleon that was satisfied with his appearance until he went to the zoo. He wanted to change his look like the other animals. So he tried to look like them. But he became so heavy that he couldn¡¯t move at all. Then, he became satisfied with himself again. I¡¯d like to recommend everyone to go to the museum and see the pictures.

At The World of Eric Carle, visitors can go inside the famous hungry caterpillar¡¯s stomach. While walking around the exhibition, I was most impressed by three drawings. First, the drawing, drawn in 1991, called Cover and Back Cover from the book Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? was very touching. Different from other artists, Mr. Carle drew the cover and back cover of the book on one page. Second, the Very Large Very Happy Caterpillar, drawn in 2001, was very interesting too. It is the biggest drawing in the exhibition. This book has also sold 30 million copies worldwide! Third, drawings from The Artist who Painted a Blue Horse were also memorable. This is because this is Mr. Carle¡¯s latest book. It was published in 2011. The story is also memorable because it is about an artist who draws a blue horse, a red crocodile, a polka-dotted donkey and other animals. In conclusion, I think this trip was a great chance to see Mr. Carle¡¯s drawings. There was an animation theatre of Mr. Carle¡¯s stories, and a TV that you can touch to view many drawings from Mr. Carle¡¯s world. For more information, visit www.ericcarlekorea.co.kr.

I went to an exhibition called The World of Eric Carle. There were wonderful drawings, and I especially liked the picture of a hungry caterpillar eating too much and a ladybug fighting with a whale. I felt so exhilarated. Eric Carle¡¯s illustration is a breath of fresh air that tickles every part of me. Why? Well, it¡¯s because the caterpillar looks at me with curious eyes while the ladybug looks like a dot. I laughed a little when I saw that the whale took up 4 pages to draw! Eric Carle said that he wanted to make learning fun for children. I agree. He definitely makes me laugh when I read his books and see his pictures. That is because his characters are silly and he uses many colors in his illustrations. Using red, yellow, green, and so many others, they make his drawings very bright and lively, like the separate colors he used for each segment of the caterpillar. Also, the hairs on its back are all different colors, too. It¡¯s interesting that the whale, the sea, and even the small ladybug are painted in different colors. I was so excited when I went to the museum. I was very happy to see actual pictures from Eric Carle¡¯s books! My trip to the museum was very fun and I hope i can go again soon!

I was very impressed with the exhibition. Mr. Carle mostly draws animals and insects. His drawings are unique because he uses tissue paper. He draws pictures on metal, glass, silk, and aluminum. I was surprised when I heard that The Very Hungry Caterpillar had sold 33 million copies worldwide. Mr. Carle¡¯s pictures were colorful and looked real. Some of the books I read were Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? And Panda, Panda, What Do you See? Mr. Carle is a great storyteller. My favorite story was Firefly. In this story, firefly wants to meet a friend. He found many things that can be seen in the light. But it is a house¡¯s light and firecrackers. However, the firefly doesn¡¯t give up on finding his friends. I learned that Mr. Carle made stories about animals and bugs. Really, he made a picture book to protect endangered animals. I agree with Mr. Carle¡¯s idea to protect endangered animals. I recommend my friends to go to this exhibition. I had a really good experience at the Cube Art Museum.

Eric Carle¡¯s exhibition looks like a playground for kids. At the museum, there is a photo zone, a library, and an animation theater. I took a picture with a beautiful butterfly, a hungry caterpillar, and a dad who picks the moon for Eric. My favorite picture is Today is Monday because the main character, a cat, is so cute and lovely. Mr. Carle¡¯s masterpiece is The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Maybe you know this book too. It was translated into more than 55 languages and sold more than 33,000,000 copies. This book is loved by millions of people all around the world. When I was young, I studied English and sang with this book. If you want to be a hungry caterpillar, you can be! Mr. Carle is a very special artist. He used various colors and drew pictures in a unique way. He used silk, glass, metal, and aluminum foil. At the exhibition, I learned how to draw pictures! It looked so interesting and I want to try. What a wonderful artist!
