We use water every day. We need water to wash our faces, hands, clothes, and to brush our teeth. We also need water to grow plants and take care of animals. In fact, we cannot survive without water. Unfortunately, the world lacks water. Therefore, it is important to use water wisely. According to a new study, many families waste a lot of water every day.

We commonly believe that taking a power shower is better than using a bathtub to save water. However, a new study shows that power showers use twice as much energy and water as baths. ¡°Despite the common perception that showers are better for the environment, they are not,¡± said Dr. Hilde Hendrickx, who led the study in the UK.

Researchers monitored 2,600 showers taken by 100 British families over 10 days. They used sensors to detect water use. They found that the average power shower costs nearly twice as much energy and water as a bath uses. ¡°Power showers use booster pumps to increase the water flow. Therefore, they are more electricity-intensive than normal showers,¡± Dr. Hendrickx explained.

According to the researchers, an eight-minute non-power shower with an average water flow rate used about 62 liters of hot water per shower. And the average family with four people would use 90,000 liters of water per year. The researcher hope that the study will help people understand how we can change our behavior to reduce the amount of energy and water we use during showering.

The study also found some interesting habits of people when using water. It found that 12-year-old boys spent the longest times in the shower. They spent 9? minutes and 41 seconds on average. It took 12-year-old girls just 6 minutes and 34 seconds. The average teenage girl uses water worth 123 Euros (about 220,000 won) over a year.

During the week, it took women 7 minutes and 39 seconds to take a shower on average. However, they took 8 minutes and 55 seconds on Saturdays. As for men, they spent 8 minutes and 5 seconds showering during the week.

We have to change our habits when using water. Turn off the water when you are brushing your teeth. Also, think about other ways to save our precious water. If we don¡¯t save water, we will face serious problems in the near future.
