Surprisingly, the tree is
made of pure gold! It is worth $2 million. A jewelry store in Tokyo and
a flower arrangement artist
named Naoto Mizuki worked together to create the expensive Christmas tree.
Mr. Mizuki used 12 kilograms of gold to make the 2.4-meter tall tree.
The tree is decorated with ribbons, hearts, and orchids, which are also made
of gold.
The tree was unveiled on November 22 at the jewelry store. It is the
most expensive Christmas tree in Japan. “Considering the time it took
to make, the designer and hard work put into it, we can assume that the cost of this tree would be
about 150 million yen ($2 million),” said the marketing general manager
of the jewelry store. However, the tree is not for sale. It will be on display at the store until
Christmas Day.
Then, why did the artist make the Christmas tree? The tree was made
to give hope to the Japanese. This year has been very sad and harsh due to the natural disasters in Fukushima.
