The year 2012 is the Year of the Dragon. In many Asian countries, the dragon is a symbol of power and wealth. Most dragons are considered beautiful, friendly, and wise. They are loved and worshipped.

The Year of the Dragon, which comes every 12 years, is lucky. We believe that children born in the Year of the Dragon enjoy health, wealth, and long life. They are also energetic, decisive, optimistic, intelligent, ambitious, and self-confident. They are also perfectionists and set high standards for themselves. It¡¯s not a good idea to make them angry. A dragon can breathe fire, so a person born in the Year of the Dragon can be a hothead!

A dragon is an imaginary creature. There are many fairytales, myths, and legends about dragons. In fact, they are considered the angels of the Orient. A long time ago, people believed that dragons controled the rain, rivers, lakes, and seas. In Asia, people thought dragons lived in water.

To honor dragons, people built temples and shrines. Today, many Chinese cities still have pagodas where people used to burn incense and pray to dragons. You can also easily see dragon shrines and altars in many parts of Asia.

Emperors in many Asian countries claimed to have dragons as ancestors. Therefore, their belongings including clothes, boats, and accessories were decorated with dragons. People also called the face of an emperor the ¡°dragon-face.¡± People even believed that rulers could change themselves into dragons.

In Chinese astrology, the dragon was seen as a powerful almighty king. This is because it was made up of different parts of animals such as a tiger, fish, a snake, and an eagle. This is why the dragon is a symbol of power and wisdom.

Like the almighty dragon, we wish everyone a successful and powerful year. Happy New Year of the Dragon!
