The giraffe is an interesting animal. It the tallest land animal on Earth. It has a very, very long neck. Giraffes are usually found in African savannas, grasslands, or woodlands. Let¡¯s find out some interesting facts about the tallest animal in the world!

A male giraffe can weigh as much as a truck! That¡¯s about 1,400 kilograms. Both males and females have horns on their heads. The females¡¯ horns are smaller and covered with hair at the top. Male giraffes have up to 3 additional horns.

A giraffe¡¯s neck is 1.5 to 2 meters long. Their necks are very long. But just like humans, giraffes have seven vertebras in their necks. However, unlike humans, each vertebrae is about 11 centimeters long.

Giraffes have bluish-purple tongues which are covered in bristly hairs. They can clean their ears with their tongues! Giraffes feed on acacia leaves in Africa. They can eat up to 35 kilograms of leaves every day. They do not eat meat and have four stomachs.

Giraffes can walk and run very fast. They have been recorded running as fast as 56 kilometers per hour. Giraffes live for 10-15 years in the wild. But they can live up to 25 years at zoos.
