What do you think about pigs? Most people have negative preconceptions about them. They think pigs are stupid, dirty and lazy. But is it true? Not really! In fact, pigs are amazing animals. They are very smart and clean! This is why some people keep pigs as pets!

Pigs originated from Eurasian wild boars. A female pig is called a sow and the male is called boar. A baby pig is called a piglet. A piglet weighs about 1.5 kilograms at birth. But it will double its weight in just 7 days!

Some pigs have straight tails while some have curly ones. A fully grown pig has 44 teeth. Like humans, pigs eat both plants and meat. They have an excellent sense of smell. So they can easily find food underground.

Pigs are very intelligent. Many animal experts consider pigs to be more trainable than dogs or cats. Pigs pick up tricks faster than dogs.

Pigs rank #4 in animal intelligence behind chimpanzees, dolphins, and elephants.

Pigs are very clean animals. They keep their toilets far from their living or eating area. In fact, they prefer cleanliness much more than other animals. They don¡¯t like to sit in mud. They use the mud only to cool off in summer.
